1994 Ford Ranger V6 3.0 120,000m I just replaced the stereo in my truck. During the installation a fuse blew that gave the 12v to the cab. I replaced that and the stereo worked and everything was good. On my way to my friends house I noticed my blinkers weren't working.... I've checked all the fuses and nothing is blown. I replaced the blinker relay and nothing still. I know the bulbs are fine because they flash for the emergency button... Also, everything on my steering column works fine (wipers, headlights, etc...) any ideas I can try? thanks.

jimmydean; Love Jimmy Dean sausage! (hint, hint) There are two flashers. One for the turn signals, and another for the hazards. Turn the hazards on, listen for the clicking, and check to see if that is the one you replaced. If it is, look for the other one. The one that is plugged into the fuse box is usually the one for the hazards. Just a thought. Loren SW Washington

hmm no idea where the other blinker would be? under the hood there are large fuses, with three black cubes near them...

jimmydean; Both the turn and hazard flashers are identical. My locater says that they are both on the fuse block. Check the back of the fuse block for the turn signal flasher. (the locater is incorrect a lot of times) I've found them just about anywhere under the dash. Sometimes, even behind the glove box. Loren SW Washington

Bummer. Was hoping to be an easy fix. Couple of questions; 1) Does your Ranger have amber turn signals in the back, or do they share the same bulb as the stop lamps? 2) When you turn the signals on, do any of the outside bulbs light, but not blink? Do the indicator lamps on the dash illuminate, but not blink? Ooops. That was three questions. Just trying to narrow this down. Should have had you check this first, but check the fuses under the hood in the power distribution box. There are some large fuses, called maxi-fuses which look like overgrown fuses. I'll see if I can find the box and legend in my database and get back to you. Loren SW Washington

Surprised, but found that fuse #22 is for turn signals. Should be a 15A fuse. Loren SW Washington

1) it has separate bulbs for turn signals 2) no 3) no, the indicators do not light up the giant fuses look good... so does that #22 fuse, but I'll replace it anyways?

The best two ways to check those fuses is with a test light or an ohmmeter. They can 'look' okay, but still blown. At least with my old eyes. With the ignition on, you should have power to both sides of the #22 fuse. The maxi-fuse under the hood can be tested for continuity with the ohmmeter, or use another fuse of the same value for testing. You do have amber turn signals in the rear? Loren SW Washington

I just brought the truck to a repair shop... They tested all the fuses and then told me they didn't know what was wrong.

Ok: You've replaced BOTH flashers - right? The two were in the same block as Loren found? If so - find which is for directionals and test that power is even where it plugs in. Turn hazards on and note the ticking from that one - it's the other. CAREFULLY use a test light there. Is there any evidence of heat or problems there? T

>>then told me they didn't know what was wrong.<< Hey, at least, they are honest. I'll take a look at the wiring diagram. We may be looking for a blown fusable link. Been really busy, I'll get back as quickly as I can. Hopefully, one of the other guys may have a suggestion. Loren SW Washington
