1995 C2500 Electrical issue sometimes acts like battery is dead when trying to Start	Sign In

Year of vehicle 1995
Make of vehicle Chevrolet
Model of vehicle C2500
Engine size 5.7L V8
Mileage 200K

Battery tested good, Alternator tests good.
This truck sometimes will not start other times it starts.
When it has an issue starting the electrical system loses all power. then comes back. I know it loses all power because the digital radio will reset. As if I disconnected the battery and reconnected it.

When it does not start it acts like the battery is dead as far as the reaction I get when I turn the key. I can wait a few minutes and try again, I get the same reaction and then later starts up sounding like it is slow to turn over.

thoughts?

Sounds like you have a connection issue somewhere. Start at the battery cable ends disconnecting cables and cleaning the ends. After all the battery cables are cleared at both ends, work on the body power supplies at the fusible links and the connections at the fuse box.

It will help in troubleshooting if you have a helper trying to start it while you tug on various cables until one responds.

Battery ground cable is somewhat common to all these but all grounds count. Check that all the way to block. While there check all ground straps, one braided in sight right to frame of the thing bet it crumbles in your hands,

I agree with both Hammer Time and Tom Greenleaf. Loose and/ or corroded battery terminals are the most common cause. Start there, and if no problems are found, check the other ends of the cables and all grounds between engine and frame or body.
