THE STARTER WON'T TURN OVER ON THE FIRST TRY, ALWAYS ON THE SECOND TRY. I TRIED A NEW STARTER & SOLENOID & IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING. THANKS

Make sure pos and neg cable connections are clean and tight. (both ends) Have your battery load-tested. Let us know how it turns out.
Cool

Did what you said & it worked fine for about 25 - 30 times, then started doing the same thing again. Starts on the second try. Thanks for the reply, Phil

If that even helped you are in the right area. Try some more serious cleaning especially at battery end with a couple new bolts, strong wire brushing and some penetrating oil. Sounds like you are on the right track,

From your post, I assume you haven't load-tested the battery. If you can't have it tested, connect a volt meter to the battery and note the voltage while the starter is engaged and not cranking. Shouldn't go below 10v. Check voltage at idle. Should be 13-14v.

CAUTION: Do not hold non-cranking starter engaged for more than a couple of seconds.
