I HAVE A 1995 BUICK PARK AVENUE, ULTRA SUPER CHARGED. I REPLACED THE BATTERY , NEXT DAY IT WAS DEAD. HAVE TO KEEP JUMPING IT.... IT HAS 220,000 KM'S . I UNHOOKED THE COMPRESSOR FOR THE AIR RIDE B/C IT KEEPS RUNNING AND THE SHOCKS ARE NOT WORKING ANYWAY. NO LIGHTS ARE LEFT ON, SO NOW I HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE SO IT DOESNT DRAIN. THE ALTERNATOR WAS TESTED IT WORKS GOOD. A CLICKING NOISE IS HEARD WHEN I REPLACE THE NEG CABLE TO THE BATTERY. ?((((( ITS FIXED THANK YOU JOE !))))))))

If disconnecting the battery eliminates your problem, then you have a parasitic draw. There is a procedure for finding a battery draw like that. You will need a digital ammeter and a jumper wire with clips on the ends to do this. First rig any door switches so you can have a door open without triggering the interior lights and unplug the hood light. Remove one battery cable and attach the meter in series between the battery cable and battery post. Take the jumper wire and also attach it the same way. Leave the jumper wire on for at least 10 minutes to expire all the automatic timers. Now remove the jumper wire and read the meter. Anything over 50ma is too much draw. The way you locate this is to start removing fuses one at a time until the meter drops to normal level. This will be the circuit with something staying on. Determine what components are part of that circuit and check them individually until the problem is isolated. You may have people advising you that you can use a test light to do this but I do not recommend this as it is not accurate at all because of the timers that are running anyway. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You might want to reconsider that. Excessive Parasitic draws are common. There are no specific common causes though. Most of the time it's a module somewhere that isn't shutting off when it should.

Just for the heck of it, sit in the car at night and see if anything is lit up. I've seen those vanity mirror lights in the sun visors drain batteries. Glove box lamps are another possibility. Also check the trunk lamp to see if it is staying on. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Glad to hear it worked out.
