I have some sort of electricial problem with my 1997 Lincoln Town Car. The headlights randomly turn off by themselves, especially during night driving. Have taken it to mechanics, ran diagnostics and the advise it is a mystery problem. Needless to say it is very scary going down the road at night and the lights go out! Does anyone have a solution?? Appreciate your help...

have the mechanic check the wiring of the head lights, something could be busted down there or in the process of being busted.

are you running on auto lamp setting or manual, if you are on auto you may have a bad twilight sensor. Be sure to put headlight sw on manual. LIFE'S SHORT GO FISH

Usually run on Manual and will from this point foward. Not sure if the switch has been on Auto when this happens, just panic and start manually switching and the lights come back on, so that might be the problem, thanks for the help..

If they come back on when you are manually moving the switch, I think RT hit this one right on the head.
