My 1998 Acura TL (150,000 miles) has trouble starting, which is getting progressively worse. Sometimes it takes 12-15 turns of the key to get it started. When I turn the key there is just a click sound-- no other noise. It's been in the shop twice (replaced main relay and put in new battery). This happens after the car has been sitting for 7-8 hours. when I am out running errands and starting it every hour or so, there is no problem. The guys at the shop said they needed to wait for it to die completely before they could diagnose the problem. I really need to figure it out because I work nights and can't have an unreliable car. Thanks.

Sounds like a bad starter. Try tapping on the body of the starter lightly with a hammer while someone is holding the key in start. If it makes a difference, then the starter is bad. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
