Have 1999 Chevy Tahoe: 1) CD player doesn't work-insert CD and it ejects with "Err" message 2) 2(WD)HI and 4(WD)AUTO lights on dash flicker on and off CONSTANTLY, sometimes "confusing" the engine and car shifts into 4WD, while car in DRIVE & moving 3) CHECK GAUGES light on dash comes on frequently, on a daily basis 4) The drivers side door/lock and front passenger door/lock have problems locking/unlocking, when using either the "key fob" control or the lock/unlock button on drivers side door controls. Most times BOTH door locks only go part of the way up/down and often the driver door lock doesn't work (lock or unlock). The two back passenger doors seem to work fine when locked either way. Additionally, the back/rear entry lock NEVER locks!

GHOSTS! That is a lot of electrical problems. I will try help best i can: 1.Does your radio have power even when car is off? If so, has it only happened recently? What sort of CD are you trying to insert? an mp3 cd? or just any old CD? 2. This sounds like a short in your wiring, i would need more info. 3. This could also pertain to the same short in your dash harness 4. Central locking module my also have a short. *I am hoping that this is the problem: Your wires behind the dash has somehow earthed to your CD player and central locking module. If this is the case, (and hopefully it is) run a continuity test with a multi meter once you have identified the wires. I would need the info requested to come up with another idea i have it might be. Keep me posted. Tom or 2Old..any ideas??

Radio has power and plays a mean cassette tape! The CD issue happened about 9 months ago, just playing a regular old store bought CD.

Ok, from what you have told me, it does sound like a pretty extreme wiring problem. Sounds like a wire or 2 from the dash harness has come away and was 1stly touching your cd player, giving it power when car is off. This may also be the reason it dont work anymore. Now, that same wire might be earthed to your central locking module. If you can get under the dash, and look at your wiring harness, have a look if there is any wires stripped or come away from main harness touching things or other wires it shouldnt. And let me know.
