I have a Nissan frontier that quit on me while driving down the road. voltage coming from the alt. was around 6 so we replaced it. had the same problems with the second. when we had them tested it said they were pushing out about 14.5 v so I put the original back in. still 6 volts. not sure why this isn't working. ideas please and thank you!

Likely has a fusible link to battery that is burned. Don't just blame an alternator so quickly, find out where wiring to it has failed as they both worked apparently. Cars will quit when battery goes low as it did, alone not a surprise,
