Mu 1999 Buick Century door locks on all doors but the drivers side will not lock electronicly. Manually ok, but not by door locks or remote.

Relay clicks and has been replaced. Anyone with ideas.

The drivers side door is the is the only door that has its own ground for the lock function. To test it you can remove the door panel to get access to the actuator and ohm out the black wire to battery ground. If it is open you will have to repair the wire. It ends up behind the instrument cluster with a eyelet and bolt through it.

Would that affect all the other doors? They will lock just fine. Will not unlock.

It will not effect the other doors because they share a different ground, in a different location.

I believe that the other doors use the ground for the drivers door for the unlock function. I would repair the driver side first.

Sorry to be so sense, but if the driver door locks and un locks, wouldn't that indicate that ground is ok?

In your first posting it says the driver side door will not lock electronicaly or with the button, only manually. Does it not?

I am so sorry for the confusion I will start over.

All doors will lock successfully. When I try to unlock, only the drivers door will unlock. When I go to drive all doors lock, and when I go back to park only the drivers door unlocks. The remote will only unlock the drivers door onlyu no matter how many times I click it.

The key wull unlock as well as manually. Easily.

I have checked fuses and replaced the relay (behind the glove box, #3 on a row of 3). It does click when I try to unlock.

Ok, the three actuators besides the driver side door all get there power from the body control module during the unlock function. I would check for power to one of the actuators that does not work. It should have 12v to the tan wire on all three when you push the unlock button. If it does not you will have to locate the Body control module and check for the same thing at pin h of connector 3. It is a ten pin natural colored connector and it will be a tan wire. The BCM is located under the left hand side of the steering column. Please post your findingsSmile

Ok, so I will need to pull one of the door panels to get to the actuators right?

OK. I think I found the BCM, if it is a black box about 2" thick by 6" by 6". There are 3 modules with wires. 1 has 8 wires (white), 1 has 2 wires (yellow) and 1 has 13 wires (yellow).

I checked for power at the acuator and nothing on the brown wire when tried to unlock, but the relay behind mthe glove box clicked.

I checked a brown wire on the plug with 8 wires and there was voltage when trying to unlock and it also varied when the relay clicked.

I dont think your looking at the correct module, maybe this picture will help. The connector should have 9 wires coming out of it and 10 cavities for wires.

Yes. That is the one I checked and it does have voltage. So I am thinking if it is not getting to the actuator that is has to be the relay (although I did change it.

If I run a jumper from the BCM tan wire to the tan wire on the actuator I am thinking it should unlock. Do you agree?

If thats the case then you need to run a new wire to each actuator from the BCM. You need to do this because from the BCM the power goes straight to each actuator, so the relay is working, and the wire is broken.

OK, I am out of options. Don't know what to do but accept what the 3 doors will not unlock. I ran a wire from the BCM to the tan wire on the actuator and nothing except the click on the relay.

Does the relay work for all doors?

What would happen if I ran a 12v wire to the door lock?

Thanks for your help.

Guess: I know you said relay was replaced but double check it and connections. Went thru hell to diagnose one that the contacts inside just didn't carry enough power and would work then not work - drive you nuts! Locks would lock but not always open then they would for a week. Then what do you when they are working?

Hey Outdoorsman! Was looking at posts regarding door lock problems with mephistex on March 16th. Can't seem to get the right picture to come up for the BCM on the left side under the steering column. I really need it for a 1997 Century but figure its the same. Can you send me a pic of where the BCM is?? I found a black box for flashers and a tan one according to what you wrote there are 3??? My husband gil is at his witts end tracing a parasitic drain. He does know that it's from the door locks. When we take out the 20 amp fuse the car will start every time. Just need to trace the wire/s that are actually doing the damage. He's determined to find it. Thanks for what info you can give. We are desperate and exhausted!!!
