The power window on my van will only go down. I checked the switch where the wiring harness plugs into the motor and I am getting -12 V one way and 12 V the other. So, I thought it was the motor. I purchased a new motor and before I installed it I plugged it in and it did the same thing. The gear would only turn up and not down. So, I thought maybe there was a loose connection in the harness. I cut the wiring harness off and installed my own connections on the wires and plugged them into the motor. Again, it would go down but not up. I then reversed the wires when I plugged them into the motor and when I pushed down the window went up and when I pushed up nothing happened. So,
its not the motor, because a new one did the same thing. And, the
switch is sending the correct voltage to the plug. What other
troubleshooting can I do?

The switch needs to reverse polarity. Both pos and neg so neg isn't going thru the switch it sounds like and the switch would be the fault. Test it for ground not working in the direction that doesn't work to prove the problem before buying a switch, T
