Here is the problem: 2001 Kia Optima, 4 cylinder (daughter’s car) Battery replaced 4 weeks ago; three days ago battery light comes back on, no problem. I pull the alternator and have it tested, passed on the bench test. Placed old alternator back into the vehicle; yesterday car dies. Midas does a "load test" and the alternator does not pass. I replace the alternator with new part, car/battery does not hold a charge and car is stuck in my driveway. I am thinking there is a short or loose wire between the alternator and battery but do not have the knowledge or tools to verify. If this sounds correct, or if you have a suggestion on a way for you to test such a theory, please let me know

With the engine OFF, test for power at the main terminal of the alternator. If no power found, there is a 120 AMP maxi fuse that you need to check. You should also have power with the key ON at the gray wire and power all the time on the orange wire. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
