So glad I found this site. I am wondering if there is a way to find out which Alternator my 2002 Chevy Impala LS has in it. I have called around and have heard there is a 105v and 120v. I know I can take it in and find out however I am trying to figure out how much I am going to need to spend before I take it out and bring it to them. The other issue is I am wondering if the symptoms the car is having are one the right track to being an issue with that part. Battery Light came on a couple days ago but ran fine. This morning it started and battery light was on but there was a loss of power when driving then dash lights started going out. Radio and the overhead display that shows temp, gas milage etc also started resetting. I am thinking it is either the battery or more likely the alternator that has given out. Thank you so much for reading this. Really in a bind and with xmas costs around the corner I cant spend a bunch on test after test after test.

The only way you are going to find out without simply matching it up is by going to the dealer with the VIN# and they can check the build sheet on that vehicle. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
