Some stores market it that way because most people don't know the difference but it is a speed control module that works from a data signal.

Sorry OP on my part. I freaks me when 13 items are listed for a freaking TRUCK! Suggests you have 12 chances to be wrong - yikes.
Hey - Test light for what is power and what is ground to a 12v DC electric motor. All I know of if reversed you just turn the opposite way like a power window, motorized actuator and so on.

If and should be worried about adding power to things. Any motor isolated from the vehicle most you can get to move with a 9V household battery and jumper wire or 2 cheap 6V camp light batteries in series to make something at lease move a little. Have to if picking ancient parts from a bone yard which you don't have to yet this new.

Why a dealer? IDK - I'd like to hope they have info as said by VIN for parts where there are so many options listed aftermarket which is just nuts and sorry to make the thread longer it's crap like this you need to pay attention to every detail,
Tom
(edit) Part name is for reasons HT mentioned. Doesn't mean wrong just a term more familiar to folks....

Do you still have the old module? Is the purple wire on the same side of the plug as the new module?

the plug was wired backwards. you were right, Hammertime.... i just reversed it, and it works like a charm!!! rookie mistake, i guess, but now i'll check plug wires every time.

Glad to hear it's solved. Wish we could have solved it about 10 posts sooner.

I'll close this now as solved.
