2006 Chrysler Sebring with 2.4l engine (less than 100K). The dash lights flicker when you are driving and the radio shuts off and on when it gets bad. If I turn other things on like the AC and rear defrost it stops for a bit then starts again. Same if I stop the car shut it off, let it sit for a minute then start it again. It gets worse when I hit the gas and then let off on it. Do not think it is a short as I have not blown any fuses and hitting bumps does not seem to affect it in any way. Have not tried anything as I am not sure about electical stuff, better with mechanical. Only things I have done regarding elecrical since I bought it was change a couple bulbs and replace the battery but those were done long before I started having this problem. Could it be a voltage regulator? And if so how hard is it to replace? Hopefully someone can give me an answer as I am a student and cannot afford to take to garage. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Joe; Make sure that the alternator belt is tight. Using a volt meter, with the engine idling, check the voltage across the battery terminals. You should see a minimum of 13.6V or a max. of 14.7V. Raise the engine speed and check again. Should be the same. If less, it's more than likely a loose belt. Voltage regulators are internal in the alternator and some are in the computer, itself. So, replacing the regulator is not an option. Loren SW Washington
