2008 Chevy Cobalt - Electrical Issues Sign In

USA
2008 Chevrolet Cobalt
2.2L 4-cylinder
95,000 miles
Everything is Stock

I love my car and I have not had a problem with it until recently. It drives fine. But the interior electrical has me worried.

- OE stereo screen light is very pale, and sometimes it does not light up at all until I turn on the radio and turn it off a few times
- Front speakers sometimes work and sometimes don't
- Back windows sometimes go down, sometimes they don't
- A/C knob has settings 0-4. 0 blows cold, and 4 doesn't blow anything however, setting 3 blows like 4 should
- I have come outside from work to go home and had the battery be completely dead despite lights not being on, nothing in cigarette lighter/charger stations, no doors open or lights on

My questions:
- Is it possible all of these things are related to ONE electrical issue or does it sound like I have multiple things going on?
- Short or fuse?
- Is there any point in taking it to O'Reily's or AutoZone for a "diagnostic" or is this something that will need a mechanic?
- Given the symptoms, does this sound like an expensive problem?
- Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :) Thank you in advance!

- OE stereo screen light is very pale,...... annoying but low priority
- Front speakers sometimes work and sometimes don't ....... again low priority
- A/C knob has settings 0-4. 0 blows cold, and 4 doesn't blow..... low on list - likely a blower resistor or HS relay.

- Back windows sometimes go down, sometimes they don't ..... intermittent tricky and time consuming to diagnose- more important is AC works....

- I have come outside from work to go home and had the battery be completely dead this is the place to concentrate, charging system and parasitic draws.... battery ... ign switch...

as for going to orielys etc- is the check engine light on? anyway a free scan is free and a shop would always connect scanner to start work. Maybe a free charging system and battery check also but ultimately a technician will have to address the list one by one...

Thank you for responding.

Looks like I need to make an appointment with a mechanic. Argh! What fun.
