2008 Wrangler major electrical issue

2008 Jeep Wrangler JK Sahara, 4x4, 3.8L, 130,000 miles. While running, multiple dash lights started flashing, no bus error on the odometer, wipers came on, radio reset, among other electrical glitches. The vehicle never stopped running. After stopping and letting is sit for about 30 minutes, restarted and drove home no problem. A couple of days later went to use it again and as soon as I started backing out of the garage, it did the same things again multiple times. I disconnected the battery, reconnected and it drove just fine with no issues though it was a short drive. There were no codes, the battery is fully charged. I did check the charging system with my scan tool and it did say charging was high outside normal parameters and from what I can tell was at 14.6 volts if that might matter. Only recent work was replacing front bump stops and shocks which shouldn't be a factor. I'm reluctant to take it to a shop since its so hard to troubleshoot and most just throw parts at which to a point I can do and save the labor. I am leaning towards TIPM but was curious if anyone had other thoughts.

Mostly IDK expect to need a dealer too much is able to go nuts like that. Note on your device that 14.6V isn't out of range would be OK if right after start up for a short while. Since disconnected battery info is lost. What item is "bump stops" mentioned in recent work? I know those as last ditch rubber from wild bumps or abuse or maybe long time without shock absorber action or plain broken?? Trying but thing this squished wiring and damage ongoing still from that, T

Thanks for the info on the charging. Yes the bump stops are what you are thinking of. I'll look in that area just to be sure I don't see any damaged wiring.

Trying the help but a bit lost. Those rubber, last ditch bumpers are just that. Any vehicle if used as intended it hit too hard trying to save itself. With good intentions wiring is shielded and placed out of harm's way in that split coiled plastic usually. Even as relatively old as it is it's a "computer" vehicle sensors everywhere to monitor or make auto adjustments. Other screw ups. It's a bumpy ride at best I would suggest and while looking at that thing out there most were using sealed AGM batteries tolerate abuse. Voltage spikes wreck things. No fix just find, replace and moderate the cause best you can, Tom

The key to this is the "no bus" message. Everything in that dash cluster is controlled by a digital signal received on the data network. That message indicates that the cluster stopped receiving that message. That could mean the cluster is bad or there is an issue with the network wiring somewhere. I don't think you are going to find the problem without outside help. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
