2012 Chevy Malibu V4/2.4L 100k miles On Tuesday around 5 pm I cracked the driver side window and when I tried to raise it back up I realised that the switch would no longer "click" when I pulled up on it. The window wouldn't raise, but it will lower just fine. I will repeat for clarification: The original switch will not click when it is pulled upwards on, and no sound comes from the window motor. When depressed, the window motor makes a sound like it wants to move (which is awesome but I also need my window to raise, as it has been stuck down for two days)e. I can control all of the windows with the master switch except to raise the driver side window. I replaced the old switch with a new one, same model number and everything, which works fine except for one thing: it doesn't cause the driver side window to react in any way when it is pressed up or down. The new switch controls the rest of the windows just fine, however. The only possible problem I can identify is that the original switch has the auto function going down, but not up (only on driver side, where the affected window is, the rest don't have auto). The new switch has auto both ways (again, only on driver side), so it is slightly different. I have no idea what to do at this point short of soldering one of the new switches onto the original board (I have checked the fuses) and so I've come here for help. I don't have a multimeter but I could easily purchase a cheap one if I need it.

What you should have been doing is testing instead of just throwing parts at it and if you are going to replace parts, at least use the right ones. Start out by testing for power and ground arriving at the motor. I am working on getting you a wiring diagram to go further but my data base is down at the moment. That simple test might give you your answer anyway. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
