Hello everyone, Did a home repair job of 2019 Grand Caravan SXT, the drivers window crashed down into the door, so I figured broken regulator. Took the driver side panel and door pieces etc to get to the regulator and it was definitely broken. It sat in pieces in my garage for about 3 days before I had time to do the repair. Once I had time,, I replaced the regulator, got everything connected back as it should be, put the door back together, and now the window works perfectly. However, now when the key is in the ignition, the dash says "door" and it continues to chime, even while I drive. I have to turn the interior lights completely off, otherwise they are always on as if a door is open. I tried searching online, but to no avail. Any ideas? Did I break something? As far as I can tell, everything was put back together correctly. The power lock switch doesn't lock the vehicle locks either, but I assume this is because the van thinks the door is open. Thanks for your help!

The door open/closed switch is built into the door latch and should have a wire plugged into it. There may be two plugs, one for the door lock and one for the switch. The wire may be left unplugged or it may have gotten damaged during the failure. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Agree with Hammer about the latch. You've had panel off so now easy to go back and first look for ALL wires to driver's door latch's back side. It's gone thru some trauma to need this type work if known from new I'd say a chronic door slammer or other really bad luck. Yes, you can bust a window by slamming doors especially if window is part open there isn't much (you did the regulator) to hold it in place. If it is or was tough to close there are some ways to adjust it properly it may need that may end up needing some auto body help, T
