I have a 64 chevy c-10 that I'm having some electrical trouble with. I'll just go down the list. When I'm driving, sometimes the GEN light will come and it will die. When I turn on the right blinker, the left blinks outside and it doesn't do anything in the rear. When I turn on the left blinker the GEN light comes on and the engine dies. Sometimes the windshield wipers will kill it too. The headlight work fine but it I pull the knob out halfway, the right blinker light comes on. I replaced the alternator and voltage regulator but am starting to think it's a wiring problem. I just discovered most of the problems. Anyone know what it is?

The directional cancel springs break and can screw things up. Involvement with alternater (dash says gen) confuses me. It's obviously all electical problems. Check the sockets for the bulbs as they are spring loaded contacts that can corrode. Veh uses 1157 bulbs or 1157A in the front - the 'A" only mean amber color. This is all just wiring - visual checks will be helpful. Good luck, I've been there with that age vehicle, sadly when they were near new! That's a long time ago,
