Check for power at the main terminal of the alternator with the key off.
Do you have battery voltage?

no. should there be? how many wires are the supposed to be? there are 2 wire now one on the battery terminal and one on a field terminal. there is a field terminal in between them that has no wire.

If you have no power at that terminal, that means you have a burned out fusible link between the alternator and the positive post of the battery.
They will probably be located close to the battery.

You can test this theory by just using a jumper wire from the main alternator terminal to the pos battery terminal with the engine running and your charging voltage should jump up.

To add: Pretty sure that vintage had brushes for alternator on back that are cheap and easy to replace even without taking alternator off! Went thru tons of those back when these were all over the place,
