Ok I hope someone can help me with this. I have an 83 Scottsdale. It has a 350 in it i know it runs. I had to change the starter in it. I forgot to disconect the batt. befor removing the old one and it grounded out. it sparked. and i disconected the batt. Ok i went and got a new one from the parts house. I put it on and reconected the batt. , but now it wont do any thing when i try to turn it over. All my lights and everything will come on, but the starter wont do anything. I can take a screw driver and jump the started silanoid and the starter will spin of just fine. does this truck have another starter relay some where else or a fuse that could have blown when i grounded out the old starter. any help would be greatly apreciated. thanks James

If you can by-pass the solenoid to get it started, then this means your solenoid is faulty. Dont always trust new starters. They can be shady, doesnt matter where you get them. There could be factory faults. By the sounds of this, there is start current coming from your igntion for you to be able to jump the starter. If you turn the key and nothing happens, it means your plunger is not engaging in starter motor. *SOLUTION* Replace solenoid - take back to dealer and tell them its busted.
