I have an 86 GMC pickup with a power issue. My wife started her up, warmed it up for 10 mins or so, and then set off down the driveway. All of a sudden thing started quitting, according to her radio, then heater then engine. There was a slight electrical hot smell in under the hood, that seem to be coming from the alternator side of the engine, but not sure. There seem to be no smell inside the cab. No smoke or burnt wires to be seen. The wire going into the alternator (removeable clip) seems to be kind of burntish but could just be wear and tear and grease. Right now there is power up to the ignition switch, it seems. Headlights, horn...the first two rows from drive side on the fusebox are live. Even with the key in the running position, no power to anything else on the fusebox. I don't have the manual unfortunately so am shooting in the dark now. I don't really want to tear my steer column appart do I? I see two wires with clips going into the fusebox marked 'ignition' but neither of these seem to have any power. Where should I go from here? Thanks!
