89 chevy suburban- possibly loose ground..

last year was having all kinds of trouble ,,, ended up being the computer ,, replaced with new one ,, ever since interior dome lights will not work not a fuse already checked... and also since computer replacement everytime starting truck radio and clock resets as if battery has been unplugged but has not been... how do i figure out which wire is loose or shorted out and will this keep truck from passing smog test ... any info please thanks in advance jamie

Check all your fuses with a test light again. There is a separate fuse for the "keep alive" memory for the radio.

Also make sure that your battery connections are clean and tight. If you have a poor connection, the starter could drop the voltage enough to reset everything during cranking.

Wild maybe but had the problem once like and was the rubber block with all the wiring thru firewall with a zillion connections there covered in white grease. When the load of starting it lost contact enough for other items inside. That was an '89 GM van by chance and just a slight twist on the male spades of the connections made all contacts work properly again.

As said a wild maybe??
