92' Bonni SSEI Supercharged

PirateI am having one hell of a time with this car! The motor starts up, runs great, heats up to normal operating temp. and sometimes dies out while running! If I shut it off after its warmed up, it most likely will not re-start. Where should I even begin? I know Its getting spark, and not getting gas when the problem arises. I don't think that its the fuel pump because it runs so great when first started. I believe its something electical like a sensor or somethin. One of the crank sensors? The Check engine light is Not on or anything like that. I'm too scared to even try and drive it to a shop to get a computer diagnostic reading done on it! The car just hit 100,000 miles. Does It have a timing chain or belt? If someone could give me a little insight would be awsome, Thanks.

I doubt that this will be a mechanical problem, a worn timing chain is a worn chain, warm or cold.
You say it has spark when not starting so you can almost rule out the crank sensor. Did you check for spark on more the one cylinder or at least on two different cylinders from different coils.
Don’t assume that the fuel pump is ok, get a fuel pressure gauge attached and test fuel pressure when it’s not starting; 40 to 47 psi.
Next would be to check for injector pulse with a noid light connected to an injector’s terminals. A noid light is a very low amperage test light that will not harm the injector driver.
Here’s a pic of a test kit containing the most popular lights that’ll plug into the different manufacturer’s terminals.



I think the lights sold separately; you’ll only need the one that fits yours and are a lot cheaper then a self-powered test light. Don’t use a regular test light across the terminals, they draw too much current and there’s a good chance of burning out a portion of the computer.
Tell use what’s missing; fuel pressure, spark or injector pulse and we’ll go from there. This just a guess but I’m leaning toward something like an ignition module, they’ve been known for shutting down after they become warm. A portion of this module also synchronizes injector pulse.
