92 Plymouth Laser 2.0 Non-turbo 160,000 miles She's running really rich and won't exceed 4,000 RPMs. My alternator recently went and my voltage dropped down to ~10 1/2 volts. While the voltage was down, she ran great with no problems. I put a new alternator in and she runs like crap again (limited at 4,000 RPMs). What do you think could be the problem?

bjaeger; There are a multitude of reasons it could be running rich; Any trouble codes stored? As far as performance, not that I'd recommend winding that engine beyond 4000rpm, could be cam timing off, restricted exhaust (from running too rich, which could be caused by cam timing being off), vacuum leak causing incorrect MAP sensor reading ( which also could be caused by cam timing), ect, ect, ect. This is a timing belt driven camshaft. If the belt breaks at 4000rpm, that wouldn't be a good thing. Loren SW Washington
