Stop at Autozone and have the computer scanned for the trouble codes. They do it for free. Then post them and someone should be able to help from there

Ok: Count the pins in the connector. Caddies can be funky. It could be either a 12 pin or 16 pin connector. If 12 pin I have a chart for the codes you can get yourself with a paperclip - AYOR. I don't have the one or chart for 16 pin job. 12 pin jobs was just counting blinks of the check engine light which went in series of three times each the first was indicating that the puter was ok to talk to you or not. Don't be jumping things quite yet - let's get some info from these guys especially as it's a Caddy! Some of those you could hit certain buttons for assorted controls you already have and get codes I think?? T

Thats too bad..my Autozone has both type scanners and will pull codes for these too. Try this procedure...see if it works...... A.) Turn the ignition switch on ( B) Depress the OFF and WARMER buttons on the climate control panel at the same time until the segment check appears on the instrument panel.(C) Once the service mode is entered , any trouble codes that are stored in the computer memory will be displayed. Write down everything that appears... TO CLEAR CODES A. Press the HI button on the climate control panel, this will cause the display to read ECM DATA. B. Press the LO button on the climate control panel until the display reads ECM CLEAR CODES. C. Now press the high button on the climate control panel and the display should read ECM CODES CLEAR. C. After 3 seconds all stored ECM codes will be erased. Let us know if it works. Jim

Im having the same problem, I was told it was a PROM CHIP and ECD. I bought one but it had three hookups and the one I took out from behind the glove box only had 2. There was another small box right next to the main one but the insert didnt fit into the the third slot of the new one. Not sure when I buy one from autozone, the ecd should be taken care of .....is the prom chip in that small box? HELP
