1995 Ford Tempo GL ~Electrical burning smell ~Car shakes above 55 MPH ~Front side axel squeaks While driving, the theres an obvious electrical burning smell. If I go above 55mph, the car starts to shake quite a bit and my axels have recently began making squeking sounds (unsure if these problems are all related). It is not any of the fuses and my Service Engine Soon light is not on. I tried to pinpoint the smell under the hood, but cant quite find it... it seems strongest around the drivers seat (inside the car) than it does under the hood... though, I did find a similar smell around the oil cap under the hood, i dont think its the same (might just be oil burning I guess). Its been happening for two days. Brand new battery, the car starts perfectly fine and runs fine (as long as i stay below 55). Although the tempurture gauge is a little hotter than normal, it is nowhere near overheating. Thank you in advance, ~Antiz

That may very well be it since its not doing all the time, it only begins to happen after I've been driving in key west (a heavy traffic area with alot of stop traffic), so I'll have that checked out. Thank you ~Antiz

hi ihad a simular problem a few years back with a 72 vw when i would go around 30 mph it would start shaking like crazy.ifound out that it was the ball joints a good thing would be to inspect your front suspention and get a wheel alignment regularly at the same time have your breakes checked for that burning smell you can also check under the dash on the drivers side where you say it is the strongest.i hope this can help.peace hi my name is israel i am a student of automotive electrical/repair

are you sure your parking brake isnt on? people drive with their parking brake on, the result is a burnt smell and a really shaky ride.

I have done many stupid things, just not that stupid XD lol, yes, i checked that. o.O down here we dont use parking brakes anyhow... no where to roll ya know? It pretty much stopped now... but now the engine is really over heating. I know this is caused by the fan not working anymore... the wire burnt out i think? This may be the smell I found. The shaking... im not sure still, but its gone.
