See if you have power on the pink wire coming off the switch when the washer button is pushed.

That pink wire goes to the pump. You could verify it there too just to make sure the wire isn't broken but it looks like you have a bad pump.

You just said you had power on the pink wire when the button is pushed. That means you're sending power to the pump and it's not responding.

Re: '95 lumina washer pump Sign In

Easy to do, I'm confused - does the pump get power or not? It reads both ways to me. If yes and it doesn't work it would be the pump motor if no you find out why tracing it back for a break somewhere.

Just wondering - is this pump on the reservoir for fluid and also a seal? If so and it's the pump there's an easy fix leaving it there but waiting to hear about power or not,

Re: '95 lumina washer pump Sign In

As the wiring diagram shows, the pump is part of the wiper motor.

Re: '95 lumina washer pump Sign In

Triggered by the wiring at wiper motor but where is the pump itself? He said it can work but no power to it up top.

I think all of these type set ups had a high rate of defects in the circuit board on the wiper motor. Yikes - so long ago it's scary - tossed one whole and not long after GM paid for the whole thing!

He said the pump motor itself can work and waiting to see if it gets triggered or not. Look for where this car likely is,

The pump itself is in the reservoir but it is powered and grounded through the wiper motor so the power and ground can be tested right at the pump.

At first I was thinking that this was one of the old type with the clicking washer on the back of the wiper motor but it's not.

Re: '95 lumina washer pump Sign In

I don't know when they quit that piggy back washer motor which wasn't motor it used the power of the wiper motor not a separate motor which could be anyplace which is why I thought this one also plugs the reservoir.

Still waiting for some knowns of tests on this. Pump seems to work so where's the break of either power or ground - thanks for bringing that up as of course it's equally important. I think I saw that wires (common) go into probably those wiring plastic tubes wrapped in tape (factory) so need to know the #1 you mentioned, power or not at trigger pink wire,

Re: '95 lumina washer pump Sign In

? Where are you losing ground, at the wiper motor, switch or does it quit between wiper motor and the pump? If so that's a wire chase for where the break is.......

Hard for me to see the diagrams well with the screen I have. Appears to have a cover over where blue wire goes. Can you take that off and keep checking?

Both feeds are supplied through the wiper motor.

Re: '95 lumina washer pump Sign In

I see that much. Just wondered if cover off (if practical) would expose the issue right there or show connector problems right there as indicated. We know that motor can work and do everything I think was said but now just isn't supplying ground either connection, solder on a board or what just might be visible. Sure easier if looking right at it. Some of these boards were recalled but I think those the wipers would quit completely. The repair was just to replace the board inside there,

Re: '95 lumina washer pump Sign In

thank u all for ur explanation. the board of the wiper motor damage i didnt want to open it and fix it. i make a fuse wire to the washer pump. and its work fine now.

if u ask me why i did it like that. i dont like to cut any wire on my cars i respect this wire and who make it.
thanks again.

Re: '95 lumina washer pump Sign In

You are correct in not messing with existing vehicle's wiring. I didn't know how this was placed never mind wiring or inside motor circuit board or what the heck.

Many were just easier to add a generic washer pump in line of the hose to tank, hurts nothing and can take those out later in two seconds.

Love your eagle and wishes for NYC which you may change your mind on - big bucks for anything. I'm just outside in rural Boston. Impossible to own a car in there - no parking or donate first children or part with bucks that would buy a state for what's called a "Park-a-minium" prime spot 500$$$$$$$$ meaning 1/2 mil!

You are a sport, keep at it,

Tom

PS: American eagles look over their right side! Check. Look at US coins and paper bills - NEVER looking left! TRUE!
