96 chevy dies when you turn Sign In

my 96 chevy 1500 dies when i take my foot off the gas and start to make a turn. if i stop at an intersection it does not die, i can start from a stop and turn and it does not die also it does not die at all in the first fifteen min. of driving no matter what i do. my mechanic put it on a lift to check for shorts when turning but found nothing. he also checked the iac and fuel pressure and they are both good. i have replaced plugs, wires, cap and roter, fuel filter, ignition coil and ignition control module.

Does it only happen when turning and not when just stopping?

Your answer is still not clear. Is turning a requirement for the car to stall or will it do it just taking your foot off the gas and stepping on the brake without turning the wheel?

Never mind. Maybe someone else can communicate with you.

No. Be more clear. English is a great language for expression. Use more words. These guys are here trying to help you with your problem not play CSI.

When you come up to a stoplight and take you foot off the gas, does it stall.

Or if you go around a corner are you taking you foot off the gas?

Is it the act of turning or taking your foot off the gas?

Re: 96 chevy dies when you turn Sign In

elrick; This 'sounds' like a sticky IAC motor. The IAC (idle air control) controls idle speed by allowing air into the engine.
When you are braking and turning, the idle speed will be comprimised; The IAC opens to compensate for the drag caused by the power steering. 99% of the time, the IAC can be cleaned. Of course, I'm just going by the symptoms.
If you haven't had an injection cleaning done in the past 40K miles, now would be a good time to have it done. It will clean the throttle body, the IAC, and injectors. Most always will notice increased fuel economy and performance. Good luck.

it does not die at stoplights or when i stop in a straight line only when i try to turn into my driveway or turn into a side road. if i keep my foot on the gas while turning it stays running

Refer to my last reply. Still sounds like an IAC problem. Could be that a bare wire or a loose connection somewhere that is affected during turns, but.....
