97 Cadillac battery always dead	Sign In

I have a 97 Cadillac Deville with 40000 miles on her . Well a few months ago the battery was replaced not sure why but they did . Well the car sat for few days and it wouldn't turnover . So put a charger to it . Lasted for a few days . Car sat and wouldn't start again . I used a Solar battery tester and it said the battery was at 345 cold cranking amps . It's an 800 cca battery . Well charged it again and few days later dead again . Figured battery was bad even if it's new . Took it back to place it was bought at and they tested it and got 745 CCA . Charging system is fine at 14.7 volts and starter was pulling 11 volts . So after charging it up again by drivineg it a few dasy I parked car agin and same thing 2 days later would barely turn over , So I hope someone can tell me what they think !!! Thanks

Well it sounds like you have a drain on the system. The best way to check this would be with an amp probe around the battery cable, any more than a 50 milliamp draw is too much....

If you don't have a amp meter you can go old school & hook a test light between the pos bat terminal & pos cable. If it lights up, start pulling fuse until it goes out & that is the circuit you need to trace.....If the fuse is for any module circuits before you trace it down, you really should get a amp meter & confirm the draw..

If you have neither we'll go with plan C..........Disconnect the battery and leave the car sit for 2 or 3 days.....Hook it back up & see if it starts............ If it does then more than likely you have a parasitic draw.....

If you don't have the tools to disconnect the battery, then it's plan D time.............Tow the car to a shop........

ok most likely your antena doesnt work and the motor is running. open trunk and disconnect motor

Yes we did fix it . Turned out the right hand seat control was broken and staying on . Thanks for the help
