97 mercury grand marquis ls

I have a 97 grand marquis ls with power everything and yesterday I started it and when pumping on brakes before shifting from park to gear I saw lights coming up on the dash board randomly. I checked the battery connection , redone them and everything seemed fine so I went for a drive but after about 12 miles when pushing on the brakes I had a power shortage and the car stopped so I put in neutral and restarted it and was able to drive back home but the car stopped again twice.
I only have 76000 miles and drive the car mainly every sunday to go to church. I have another car whitch is smaller that I use to commute but I would really appreciate if someone could tell me where to look at on how. I have a hunch that it comes from the abs or brake system but maybe not. thanks in advance

How old is the battery? If battery is really weak, or had a dead cell, this can be it. If battery is bad, check alternator to be sure it is outputting the correct voltage AND current.
Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
