Yes the dimmer switch could be reason but not likely, if you have no low headlights at all. The problem “could” be one of a number of fuses, relays, headlight switch, power feed to the power distribution box(s), day-time running light module, body control module, bad ground, open wiring harness and the list goes on & on. Why they need to make a simple headlight circuit so complicated is anyone’s guess but they must have their reasons? Here’s a brief description of how the system is intended to works. When you turn on the headlight switch, you’re not actually turning on the power to the headlights. In reality you’re putting in a request to the body control module (computer); asking may I have headlights? The module looks at your request, if everything is ok and it understands the request; on comes the lights, after the module turns on whichever relay it needs for high or low beam lights. I’m not saying the computer is at fault, but the computer may not be receiving the proper input, not sending the proper command or the command cannot be carried out because of a relay or whatever has gone bad? So I’m going to suggest taking the car in and have it diagnosed, rather then you throwing parts at the thing? Dan. Canadian "EH"
