Attach DashCam to Fusebox Sign In

I have installed a dashcam in my car and have done all the wiring.
I was hoping to get some help as to what kind of fuses I will need to power my dashcam via the fuse box instead of the cigarette lighter.
When I approach my local car dealer or dash cam installer, they will not help me as to what kind of fuse I will need to power it up.
How do I find out what kind of fuses I will be needing?

The paperwork that came with the camera should give you that spec but I would guess a 10A.

Thank you for your quick reply.
What is the best site to buy car fuses and how come car dealers never sell these parts.

Fuses are sold everywhere. God, even the grocery store sells them.
Any auto parts store for sure.

Re: Attach DashCam to Fusebox Sign In

Thank you for your help so far.
This is the manual - page 7
It does not talk about any fuse, hence I wanted some help.
And I also do not want to hook to constant power supply.
I would like to start my dash cam when my car starts and turn the dash cam when my car is turned off.

That link doesn't go anywhere.

You are going to have to locate switched power supply.

Re: Attach DashCam to Fusebox Sign In

No, it doesn't mention current draw. 10A should be fine.

Re: Attach DashCam to Fusebox Sign In

What kind of car is this and why don't you want to use a power port the vehicle already has? I plead I can't know the power required for no doubt a wild assortment of such things that can't do their own power via a battery for just it that's part of it's deal by itself IDK turn on when motion or some reason you set to be on that really doesn't involve the vehicle itself for power for intermittent use or just what do you want it for and may not want to say?

There sure are reasons you could/would want such things up to sending a remote signal to some other place totally so I'm just asking not into aftermarket stuff of any kind I can't just take out and use in some other something vehicle or not.

Just asking,

Tom
