Hi all - I purchased a used 2008 dodge nitro at auction and discovered that it has a a back up beep - it's not a back up sensor, just a very loud beep like you'd hear coming from maybe a trash truck that's driving in reverse. I want to get rid of it, as its extremely loud and probably going to annoy the neighbors. Any ideas on how to disconnect it?

Could be wrong but I'd bet it's aftermarket for a regular SUV type vehicle. If annoying people I guess just look for it and it probably will just unplug then seal off the plug well. It might just be hacked into back-up light wires. Couldn't guess if it's somehow required for type of vehicle and you location? T

I'm trusting you to be careful or get help. Aftermarket should be easy. Without the vehicle running!!!! just put key to run, set parking brake hard, put in reverse and go look for the thing in the back. Best is it's just wire tapped into back-up lights, one wire and grounds to the body or frame. Just tie away if a dangling plug harmlessly away perhaps the plastic zip ties for wiring so it can mess anything up swinging around. I did put a thing on a HUGE SUV (owner's request) that said in English "WARNING, THIS VEHICLE IS BACKING UP" Which really annoyed everyone including the owner so out it came! It can't be that hard to undo this thing, T

Look under the back bumper for a box that doesn't look like it is supposed to be there it probably looks like this I think I have it linked , if not just Google back up alarm they are pretty universal and easy to install or remove
