Battery dead car will not crank

I have a 94 Chevy Cavalier V-6 3.1 and I have alot of problems with it getting it to crank. I have had the alternator and the battery checked and they both are fine. I have checked the battery cables and replace them as well and tightned them up as well. I would have to jump my car off and then a few days later the car would not crank. A few months ago my car was broken into it and before this started happening everything was fine. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the wiring in the dash where the radio was stolen. If you have any answers or advice what I can do to solve this I would greatly appreciate it. This is my email address a_gates@bellsouth.net . Thank you for your help.

This should have nothing to do with the radio being stolen. Sounds to me like your starter or solonoid. You will have to remove them to have them tested. Most auto parts stores will test both components for free. If there is a dead spot in you starter, it will start until it reaches the dead spot then the car will not start. If your solonoid is bad it will not engage the starter drive to crank the vehicle. All you will get is a click sound when you turn the ignition to start the car.

That is not true. In some cases if the starter is worn it will cause the the car to crank slowly and if the solonoid is bad, it could cause a drain on the battery. This happened in a pontic wagon I used to own. Just trying to help.

We have checked everything in this car the alternator, the fuses, and if it was the starter the car would not even start. Well for about a week now the car has been cranking all of a sudden no problems. To us this is very strange anybody else know what else they think it could be? Any ideas would be helpful.

I am trying to understand the circumstances. If its ok all day but when the car sits overnight and then wont start in the morning, then you could have a parasidic drain on the battery. Something could be staying on while the car is siting there. For instance, Recently GM had to recall there OnStar computers because they would turn on at 1:00 AM and do a self check that should last 3 minuts and shut off but they werent shutting off and draining the battery in a few hours. If your having trouble after leaving it for a while or overnight, have your car check for the parasidic drain. Could be computer not turning off or even a trunk light not going out.

Hi thanks we have checked the trunk light we have checked everything out . It has been cranking for over a week now but usually it would sit over night and then the next morning it would not crank. In Dec of last year the car got broken into and his cd player and a bunch of things got stolen. His dad told him he could have been a wire from where the radio was could have been cut and not sure if something under the dash has gotten cut. We dont know if that is the reason or not. We have checked like everything the alternator, battery, and etc. We figured it may be some kind of drain but we dont know what could be draining the battery because nothing is on. He has his starter wire and the amp wire hooked up to his battery. We just dont have no clue.
