2008 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE 166,200 About 3 months ago the battery and brake dash lights started flickering. It happens quickly and if you are not looking at the dash you will miss it. Also, the driver side headlight flickers and goes out and if you turn the headlights off and back on, the headlight comes back on. These 2 things don't necessarily happen at the same time. My mechanic says the charging system/headlight is fine. Obviously they are not. Please help.

On the Nissans if there is a problem with the charging system that causes the alternator's regulator to ground the battery light circuit, the brake lamp circuit will come on also. When your mechanic checked the charging system was the problem occurring? If not, the problem is going to have to happen and your mechanic is going to need to be monitoring the charging system circuits at the same time to catch the issue. The alternator might be getting ready to fail. Putting the alternator under heavy load such as turning everything on in the vehicle is important when checking the performance of the alternator. As for the head lamp, are these low or high beam? Xenon bulbs? Maybe inspect the bulbs to see if you have one getting ready to blow. You could also swap them and see if the problem goes to the other side. Be careful and don't get any oils on the bulbs. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
