2005 Chrysler town and country
3.8 liter V6 engine
140,000 miles
exact power window front driver switch -> link deleted .................. not allowed
I am having power window problems and i want to make sure its the switch before buying a new switch. A couple months ago if you put the window down 100% it sometimes has problems coming back up. A couple days ago, the window wouldnt roll down at all, but the passenger side has no problems ever.
I dont think its the regulator because i dont hear any noise. It feels like an electrical issue because it just stops with no response, no grinding noise, no abnormal noises.
I was going to go to the junk yard to pull a used switch and swap it with mine to see if it was indeed the switch as the problem. MY problem is as soon as i started driving to the junk yard, the windows started working again. Which makes my swap pointless as i cannot test it as it has to not be working to swap switches.
Can you test the switches prongs for continuity to test if there is a bad connection in the switch at all? If so what prongs etc.?

Your link just sent me to a search for window switches but not important just yet. If you can just test it swapping polarity of power from the back side at least see if it is doing that WHEN and I mean WHEN it has the problem as it would test fine when does work.
The common window whole regulators do come with a new motor and the hardware if needed and IMO the best repair if you in fact have a weak or dead motor.
If this can play games and work for 2 months I don't know how you'll be sure it's a switch, motor or wiring unless you are sure it's not working when tested,

(PS on edit: Why junkyard parts? This if popular should be readily available new even many aftermarket would do IMO)

If this can play games and work for 2 months I don't know how you'll be sure it's a switch, motor or wiring unless you are sure it's not working when tested, I guess I would just have to wait until it doesnt work anymore to test it.

IF the junk yard works (and it fixes the problem) why buy aftermarket when i can reuse another cars parts and save money? I always use junk yards. My cars usually have high milage and i only have to fix something once before the car is dead. There is no point in spending more....unless all the drivers side switches are shot at the time of buying them. But i usually am able to find a working one somewhere in there.
So i basically have to wait until the problem resurfaces?

Yes - Just like a string of working light bulbs when working you aren't likely to find the bad one type thing. Test it used too and know how.
I'll say - you just leave or replug in the switch and use a "T" pin or the test light for power on one side. Then power the test lead's alligator clip and test for ground on they other. That reverses for UP request and Down request.
Trouble with this used is you are less likely to find a good door intact that places want parts taken off and will if it's all broken, no window and interior exposed to weather for an electric item that isn't happy with that of course.
In most junk yards when you pick your own you are without power to the vehicles so need to bring your own. For powering up whole vehicle for testing only you could use two 6v camp light batteries in series know how to power just what you wish not the entire vehicle.
More reason for new if absolutely finding it bad is you need to have a lot of test stuff for junkyarding electric if you don't already own and want the $50 is the deal and should last better,
