DC source for dash can - smart key error. Sign In

Any advise, please help.

I tapped the DC source from 3rd row auto power seat and ACC source from rear cigarette lighter adaptor to install a dash camera for the rear window.

It resulted in smart key error, although I still lock, unlock, keyless push start etc with the smart key. I swap the DC source from the 3rd row power seat to the rear light, it still show the same smart key error. After I disconnected the DC source, the error message disappeared.

Please advise the reason and solution.

Thank you.

Would be helpful to know the year, make, model, and engine size. Have you attempted to contact the manufacture of the device on there recommendations for installing in your type of vehicle? Can you provide the wire colors and where you actually attempted to splice your aftermarket device?

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

What do you mean by tapped the AC source from the rear cigarette lighter? There is no AC power in your car, its all DC.

Japan import 2007 Toyota Estima / Tarago / Previa
3.5L 2GR-FE V6 AWD.
It is the 2006 to 2017 Model.

I am trying to install a hidden car dash cam for the rear windscreen. I have a different type of front windscreen car dash cam, which I have tapped the power source from the cigarette lighter socket, which does not require any Yellow Cable: D+.

The hidden dash cam for the rear has a Yellow Cable D+.

The wiring Instruction

Red Cable: ACC
I have connected it to a 1A fuse and then to positive of the rear boot cigarette lighter socket using a quick connect clip.

Black Cable:GND
I have connected to the negative of the rear boot cigarette lighter socket using a quick connect clip.

Yellow Cable: D+
I have tried 2 options:

Option A: I have connected it to a 1A fuse and then to positive of the rear boot light using a quick connect clip.
It makes the remote key less sensitive and "Smart Key Not Detectable" error message appeared.
I am still able to start the car with the push start. But using the remote key to keyless lock and unlock become more difficult.
It somehow affect the sensitivity of the smart key antenna.

Option B: I have connected it to a 1A fuse and then to the positive of the rear 3rd row auto seat power supply, using a quick connect clip.
There is not problem with keyless remote lock and unlock and push start. But there is intermittent "Smart Key Not Detectable" error message appeared. It may also affect the sensitivity of the smart key antenna, but less than option A.

They are the 3 nearest power source for the rear dash cam.

What have I done wrong? Or should be the correct method?

I could not locate the interior fuse box to tap the power source for D+ to verify if it could solve this "Smart Key Not Detectable" error message.

Many thanks.

OIC Thanks.
I was confused with ACC (Red cable) and D+ (Yellow Cable).
I have read some information from the google search, now I understood them. ACC is not AC.

There is no possible way a 1A fuse is powering a lighter. You need to be careful what you are tapping into before you start frying some very expensive components.

1A fuse to power the rear dash cam (not lighter), tapping the power source from rear boot cigarette lighter socket.
