Electrical Issue - Battery Drains When Parked Sign In

Something is draining the battery on my Mustang when parked. If I drive it daily it's ok. But if parked for too many days the battery will be dead. With the engine off I hooked up my DMM in parallel to the battery but it doesn't show a current drain. Do I have to hook it up in series to get a reading? Any other suggestions are most welcome. Thanks!

Yes, first you need a meter that reads in ma accurately, then you attach it is series. Once you have done that you have to rig the door switches to keep the lights off with the doors open and then you have to wait for all the timers to expire which could be up to 30 minutes but usually within 10 minutes.

Once the timers expire, start pulling fuses one at a time until the current drops below 50ma. Some of the fuses you pull my restart the timers when reinserted. You'll just have to let them expire again.

Another important procedure is to make sure that the battery tests good before doing a parasitic draw test. Make sure that the top of the battery is free of acid which could cause a drain across the top of the battery.
