I have a 69 mustang with an AAW wiring harness. In This setup "ground is being switched in the steering column switch to ground a relay which sounds the horn." Visually I have two horn contacts in the steering column. One has 12 volts and the other does not. I can short these two contacts and sound the horn. I think there is an issue with my switch in the steering wheel (I don't think Ford designed it this way) but when I was fiddling around with it the other day, I could no longer sound the horn by shorting the two contacts. I unplugged the negative on the battery and let it sit for a while. I went back and i was able to short the contacts to make the horn sound again. Can a relay get hot and stop working? No idea on what brand relays--need to dig them out of the dash. Any thoughts?
