How to disable ALA990K ignition disabler
|
|
|
I would like to remove the ALA990K ignition disabler from my 2001 Saturn SL. It is not functioning correctly and I having a hard time starting the car after entering personal code. Since all Saturn dealers are out of business, is there an easy way for it to be remove or disabled it? Do I need to go to a repair shop or can simply cut the wires from ALA99K to the ignition? Thank you, lou

I have no idea what you're dealing with there. it';s not a factory system. the factory uses the passlock system and you can't do anything about that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

It is strange no one knows what I am talking about, this system was used by the dealer on my 1996 Saturn and is on my 2001 Saturn. I can not be the only person with this problem. Here is a pic of the device i am talking about From the manufacture:
KPL - Illuminated Digital Keypad Immobilizer KPL Picture Features Preset 4 digit code 10,000 Possible combinations Bright green illuminated keypad Starter kill relay and socket included Passively arms itself 15 seconds after ignition key removed Bright red status LED for deterring would be thefts (* button) Valet mode so you do not have to give your code to others (# button) Has option to install emergency override switch in case of keypad failure Has option to install emergency override switch in case of system failure Keypad dimensions: 1 3/4 inches long, 5/8 inches wide, 2 1/8 inches high

Yes, that is just some aftermarket stuff the dealer bought outside. We have no info on it.

I have seen these befor and removed one. The one I have taken out spliced in-line with the starter solinoid wire under the dash. Basically follow the wires there will be wires that are sliced into you have to disconnect and reconnect the factory wires together.. not hard if you know what your doing.

I removed one of these systems out of my 95 honda civic and i found out the easiest way to remove it was to unplug all wires from the fuse box and take everything spliced and unsplice it then, take the system out it will have a ground and also a wire plugged into the fuse box unplug all of it and pull the system out keypad and all then take all the wires you have left and match them up and tape them up and as long as its all stock wires and they are connected together it should work, it worked for me at least and its not easy i had to lay upside down with my head in the floorboard to see it all i hope this helps.
