Ignition Switch or Ignition Lock Cylinder

The vehicle in question is a 2004 Honda Civic LX. I stupidly left both of the keys to the car in my luggage and the airline lost my bag. The trouble is, the car doesn't have the original ignition, so I can't just get a new key cut because the dealership can't lookup the key code. If the entire ignition system works properly but I simply can't get any keys for it, do I have to change the entire switch or can I just switch out the ignition lock cylinder and use the keys that come with that? Also, would a generic ignition switch work fine, or should I get a legit one? Any input helps, thanks a lot.

Just curious, but what is the status of the airlines finding your luggage? Are they lost forever?
Probably cheaper to call a locksmith than go about changing and recoding the door locks and replacing the lock cylinder. Plus if you get your luggage back, your original keys will still work.
