My ignition lock has completely stopped working. I understand how I'm supposed to replace the lock, and I have a salvage-yard lock and key, which came out just fine. My problem is that I absolutely can't turn the car's lock to the "Run" which is a requirement to swapping out the lock. I've tried solvent in the lock, and pounding on the key as advised by some on line advice. Also have tried each of our various keys that we've collected over the years. (Also, the power windows are rolled down about 5 inches and it's in my driveway, ready for the next rain).
I'm looking for advice on how I can change the lock if I can't get the lock out of the "Off" position.

You really should call a lock smith to remove the lock cylinder. Not only can they remove the cylinder without damaging the housing, but they can recode the cylinder, so you don't need two keys along with not having to learn keys to the SKIM.
