Rangerj; The backup lights are controlled by the (go figure) back up light switch which is usually mounted on the transmission. Using a test light, see if you are getting voltage to the bulb sockets, first.
The brake lights are controlled by the brake light switch which is mounted on the brake pedal arm. You can disconnect the plug on the switch, using a jumper wire across the terminals on the plug, the brake lights should illuminate. Could be wrong, but I think the brake lights run through the turn signal switch as well. If the lamps don't illuminate and you have no power at the sockets, probably the T/S switch?

Fixed it,On a whim I replaced all of the fuses even though they looked good and this fixed my problem. Should have done this before posting. Thanks

Ranger; Glad to hear it's fixed. Maybe, just a poor connection in the fuse panel? Thanks for letting us know, though.
And, good luck.
