2007 Chevy Impala 3.6 V6 55k miles Hello All.. My 2007 Impala all of the sudden started having starting issues. One day it would just stutter for a second and then start. And it would keep doing that. Finally after the car sitting for a couple days it would not start with the first key-turn, but would start on the second or third. Today it started on the 4th key-turn, and I went inside a store, came out 10 minutes later and it wouldn't turn over at all. I jumped it and it didn't start right away with it just clicking, not turning over at all. Re-adjusted the jumper cables, and then it started right back up. Before I jumped it I sat in the car for 10 minutes and the radio and all lights worked perfectly. Last week I took the cables off the battery and cleaned them up extremely well. Re-connected everything and it still stuttered before starting. Could this just be the battery? I've had more than a few cars that needed new batteries and every time the batteries just went out. They didn't stutter before starting or kept the lights on. One day they would work and one day the battery was gone. So that's why I don't think it's the battery. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would really be appreciated.

Sounds like you have a batt/charging system issue . If your the DIY type go to a parts house and have them put a tester on it ,most major chains do it for free. If your not able to do it youself . Take it to your repair shop of choice. LIFE'S SHORT GO FISH

Put a tester on the battery or the car? Sorry I don't know much about fixing cars. Do I take my battery out and take it there or take my car there and have them test it?

chadt: If that's the original battery it doesn't need testing - it's junk. They age about like lettuce, T

Thanks Tom. One question. If it were the battery then wouldn't all the power in the car die? I was unable to start the car, but all the lights and the radio was on for at least 10 minutes.

No! Doesn't take puppy poo to run certain things and a starter is the big draw. As said if that battery is known original it's junk and no need to test it, T
