Problem With Gauges Sign In

I have a 1981 GMC Caballero 3.8L 2 barrel carb. Its pretty much identical to the Chevy El Camino of same year. The problem is that the fuel gauge and voltmeter do not read correctly. I took apart the console that holds all the gauges and cleaned all the connectors on the blue wiring harness. The fuel gauge never reads past half a tank but i dont think it has anything to do with the float because when i wiggle the console around it will read past full. the voltmeter had worked before i took apart the console on a previous occasion to fix the speedometer. the voltmeter looks like it moves the correct distance but its like the needle is just moved down to the wrong spot. What should i do?

Re: Problem With Gauges Sign In

Guess: The assembly may not have a good ground via wire or how it's mounted,
