I have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the running lights won't shut off. As soon as I connect the battery all 4 running lights are on along with the dash lights. I have already changed the headlight switch and it hasn't solved the problem. HELP !!!!

By chance does this vehicle have an after market alarm system or remote start? Why I ask is that after looking at a wiring diagram for a base Grand Cherokee; there are no relays for the running lights, it still uses just a switch to turn them on. If there isn’t an after market device then you’re going to have to chase the Dark blue/red wire, leaving the switch, that powers the light circuits and find out where it’s shorted to power. Dan. Hi Dan - Thanks. Yes, the jeep came with a remote starter installed ON/OFF Model OF3000. I don't have a controller for it. Sometimes the jeep won't start at all - stone dead - not even enought power for the interior lights. If I disconnect the battery for about 20 seconds and re-connect the battery it will start just fine. Strange! Running lights stay on all the time as soon as the battery is connected.

I would try disconnecting the auto start controller; you’ll likely find it under the drivers side of the dash. The installers of these things usually tie wrap them to a metal brace or the wiring harness and are easily seen as an add-on device. The boxes (controller) are usually 3” X 4” square 1” thick, made out of plastic, with a couple of wire connectors. Dan. Canadian "EH"

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! I disconnected the remote start module and the running lights will now shut off and the jeep starts no problem. I've been frustrated by this problem for a while now and have talked to alot of people about it with no solution untill now. Thanks, Dan!
