heh, Nice forum you people have here. so ok.. My electrical system on my 92 s-10 blazer has always been a little weird. It all started about a year ago when my Vehicle wouldnt turn on and have no power at random times, It would do it for like a week, and I'd Just keep messing around with the wires coming off the positive terminal and the problem would go away and usually reappear withing a couple months. That might not be related but heres what happened recently. I got a haircut at great clips (haha) got out and went in my truck and took off. I stepped on it real quick because I was in a hurry and heard a weird buzzing/humming noise and it worried me so I went home to check it out. So there I am sitting my in driveway revving it up to get a better understanding of where the noise was coming from and all of a sudden i heard POOF! and a cloud of steam rose from my engine (at this time i thought 181k miles was all the farther that thing was going to move lol). I popped the hood only to find out my Heater Core hose popped off because of a bad hose clamp. Hooked it back up and filled it up with new antifreeze and it was fine, the noise was gone (I was amazed at first at how something like that could make a noise like that) but then it came back pretty much the next day. (most likely not related but you never know, the noise started right before it happened.. weird) That was like a week ago. This morning when I woke up to go to school it was running weird and felt like it had no power.. so i put it in 4 wheel and it layed rubber on all fours.. so i thought nothing of it, until it got worse, it started having no power at all and wouldnt move out at all when id step on it. and when it was in neutral and id floor it, it would knock rev like 3 or 4 times before it would get up to speed with the gas. I then noticed my volt gage was really low.. like almost at the bottom.. So i figured it might be my alternator.. but when id turn on heater fan or fog lights no other lights would dim.. and my Battery wouldnt make a whine noise like that.. But im wondering if it is my alternator. Its weird because no matter where you are around or in the vehicle, each spot makes it seem like the hum is coming from somewhere else. But it starts up fine and has no problem (Ill see for sure tomarrow morning) I tried messing with the positive cables again to see if it was just a bad connection but it didnt change anything I even cleaned up the terminals which were pretty much caked in corrosion (marine terminals) and that didnt change a thing. Im trying to figure out what the heck that is! Because theres no significant signs that its my alternator, but the same thing with my batter also.. It could also be my connections, I have no clue. I wish i could find my old volt meter. Do you think its worth it to switch my truck to the normal terminals with new connections on the wires or what.. Im confused. Sorry for the long post I just want to know what you guys think. Thanks in advance for any responses

Start at charging the battery. Put a voltmeter across the terminals. You should have around 12 volts. Have an assistant start the engine. The voltage should climb to above 14 but less than 15. If this checks out OK, have the battery load tested. If that checks out OK, you may want to wiggle the battery cables CAREFULLY WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING while watching the voltmeter. If you wiggle or move a cable and the voltage drops suddenly, you have isolated the problem. Steve
