Street Rod aftermarket headlights Sign In

Installed headlights with built in park/turn signal....have six wires coming from headlight unit....red (high beam) green (low beam) and black (ground) for the headlight.....red (turn), black (park) and white (ground) from the parking light unit.....4 wires coming from steering col. tan (high beam), Green (low beam), blue (turn) and brown (park). I've combined the black ground and the white ground into one wire grounded to the frame....it is a good ground. WITHOUT connecting the column wires to the headlight unit all the wires are hot when they are activated by their respective control, however, the turn signal does not work when all the connections are made.....but the headlight will act as a turn signal if I place the red or green wire from the headlight unit to the blue wire from the column. Any ideas?

Re: Street Rod aftermarket headlights Sign In

Did this kit come with any instructions? Lost with a "Street Rod" as it's probably only a frame serial # and who knows what else is from what to put a standard to anything?

If replacing something that worked go by that and what had power and ground. This aftermarket kit should have come with some information if only to fuse it properly and what watts bulbs may consume for power.

Custom cars like this should have a ton a papers on what was done with what or be obvious.

Whatever you do use automotive grade wire and connections. Fuse properly and harness wires carefully,

Try taking another external light and wire it to each circuit individually to test the circuit. You may have one of these wires identified incorrectly. It will tell you if the circuit is good when standing alone and that may tell you if something else is interfering when attached to the mounted lights.
