Technician's Notes: Electrical Nightmare

I just took my 2002 Grand Am GT into an Amco, they gave me a list of codes my car was throwing and told me to find a specialist. The technician called it a "electrical nightmare". Codes are: P0113 P1111 C1232 C1221 C1298 C1254 U1040 U1129 B2600 B3267 B2965 U1000 U1128 U1176 U1016 U1096 Is there really 16 points of failure? Are any of these transmission codes? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What are the symptoms you are experiencing? Why did the tech say it was an electrical nightmare? Has someone being doing some hack wiring work on it? Both P codes have something to do with the air intake temperature sensor. They may have set if someone had unplugged the IAT with the ignition on or engine running. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

My shifting is real rough. When I turn the car on in the morning, its fine for the first few miles. Then the car starts shifting rough every time I shift gears, or take it out of park. occasionally a hard shift when I put it in reverse, but not always. The technicians notes say: "Electrical Nightmare Going On Inside Fuse Box + Dash!" As far as i'm aware, no hack wiring has been done. I believe the technician was referring to the number of codes, and made no mention of hack wiring..

Could be the technician was over his head and decided to pass it on. Would be interesting to find out why the tech wrote that on the R.O. Trouble codes originate from the engine computer not the fuse box or dash. You should get a second opinion from another shop. Sometimes chain store techs don't want to be bothered with complex problems because they lose money messing with them, so they pass it over. They want those hard fault smoking or grinding transmissions to make money on that doesn't take a lot of brain power to figure out. As for the shifting problem it could be a line pressure control issue. There is a pressure control solenoid inside the transmission that is electrically operated by the engine computer. Someone is going to have to monitor line pressure and PCS duty cycle to see what is actually going on. As for the codes, the next person should write them down and clear them. See which ones come back and then diag from there. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Thank you so much for your help, I will definitely seek a second opinion. I'm actually thinking of just printing out this conversation we just had and taking the car to the nearest GMC dealership.
